Unfortunately Hotmail e-mail notifications are not supported in Skype.
If answer was helpful please give Kudos and if issue is resolved mark it with solution for other users. Thanks!

What I would expect is some kind of idea from Skype what the plan is for email notification integration in the future.
The original poster had a valid question with valid concerns and was given a quick reply without any thought going into the answer.

I recommend to download the latest Skype and search first.
To get the most out of Skype I recommend Skype Premium.

This is the main reason I use MSN also, for the email notifications. Not having that ported over will be a real pain and force me to use another program just for this 1 feature. Everyone uses email, and I'm very sure everyone would like to be notified when they recieve email. How this feature isnt on the top of the porting lists is confusing.

Better have this feature before MSN stop working in March...
What am I suppose to do then ? Refresh Hotmail.com / Outlook.com every minutes to know if I have an email in ?
At least, I still have my Gmail notifications by using Google Talk.

No email notification, no custom emoticons, no way to unify contacts that appear on both Messenger and Skype, no way to customize your font (only the font for the *whole* screen is changeable), etc....
Now I remember why I rarely used Skype in the first place.... I've just made the switch since yesterday, and I'm already sorry for have done so.

There's such a thing as google talk? Sign me up after WLM shuts down, I'll have to migrate from hotmail to gmail. Microsoft is making a mistake.

I've been using MSN for over 15 years now, and Skype for about 7. I enjoy both services, and yes I will be sad to see MSN go, but I am excited to see how Skype progresses.
Skype having email notifications though would be the ultimate Win. I know Microsoft are pushing Windows 8 tablet UI, but for those of us with desktops, email notification is essential. If the Skype team can bring us this, I think we'll have another great all in one messenger client and most of us old school MSN early adopters will adjust.
