Messenger contacts not showing in Skype [ Edited ]

Go ahead and add me to the list of people who are disappointed in this forced merger.  I'm having the same problem as everyone else (MSN messenger contacts don't exist in Skype or I'll have 200 messenger contacts and only 2 in skype).

I rely on MSN every day to chat with a significant other in another country.  I added skype (newest version), it removed my MSN messenger, and she doesn't appear in my contacts list.  I then removed skype from my computer and restored previous settings to be able to get MSN messenger back back.  I hope and pray both skype and msn figure out why so many of us are having problems before MSN messenger is disgarded completely in March.  

Its unfair to us consumers, who rely heavily on these products, to be burdened by these issues.  "Upgrade to skype, your msn contacts will be there"  Taglines are supposed to be true.  

Any help to figure out how to actually get all my contacts would be greatly appreciated.  I already went to MSN to manage contacts, no one was deleted, and they all still show up on MSN.  Newest version of skype was downloaded as well, so that's not the issue either.

The same problem. I had older version of Skype that allowed me to log in with MSN account and I did this merging. But now  after updating to Skype 6.0 there is neither more possibility to log in with MSN account nor my MSN contacts in contacts list. If I log in to live.com and tell to restore my missing contacts, it says that there's nothing to restore and really, in live com or any other msn client - aMSN, Pidgin - all my msn contacts are still there. But what's wrong with Skype. I can't add any contact, I can't import the contacts from file, the screen is empty there. And if I log in with my Skype account, I get only my Skype and Facebook contacts, not MSN ones.

This is soooo Microsoft.. They are a has been company.. Just find an alternative chat program and dump all that is Microsoft.. they've screwed us enough over the years.

I have exported my messenger contacts to a .csv file. Wouldn't it be great if I could import the contacts in this .csv file into my original Skype account? Might this be a possibility in the future?

I have lost messenger as it was uninstalled when I upgraded to the new Skype. I can't log on to skype using my windows live profile as it says I have to allow cookies and I have had an ongoing problem with cookies since I bought my computer with Windows 7 installed. By the way I have MSIE 9 installed but prefer to use another browser.

Any suggestions?

Yeah. Two weeks ago I actually sent an email on this issue to the Microsoft side.

I got a response claiming to be from Chris Jones (VP, Windows Live Services) which I think is as likely as Steve Ballmer actually reading my e-mail or Microsoft not knowing about the problem as "Mr. Jones" says in this email.

Steve forwarded your mail, and I'm quite sorry to hear about your experience - this is not something I've heard of and so I'd like to follow up to make sure we solve the problem for you and other customers.  Can you let me know your Messenger sign in email address?  We'll take a look.

Do you think there's a snowball's chance I would subscribe to Office 365, given this mess? I am cancelling my X-box Live account when it comes due for renewal next month over this. There is now absolutely no chance I will ever reccomend a Microsoft Cloud service over the competition. See you in the Cloud Microsoft.

On my Samsung SII skype show both skype and messenger contacts. But not on my laptop-skype.
Perhaps this is something that might help solove the problem, who knows..

I soloved this problem. I closed all live-id applications/programs.
Unistalled skype. Installed skype and logged in with my live-id (microsoft live messenger login) and then after 1 minute of loading skype emerged with my messenger contacts and skype-contacts.

I do not know if this will work for you, but I had the same problem as you and it worked for me.
