They never posted an answer here. They kept telling me they are going to escalate. Finally, after several sessions of chat support (which is almost impossible to get someone to answer even if you have premium subscription) the chat rep told me that "GRPOUP video calls will NOT work on the Kindle or ANY tablet". Only on desktop pc's. I am still furious because I got an ipad and a Kindle Fire HD which I take everywhere, and paid for a Premium Skype account so that I can make group video call with my family oveseas - it is more fun to be able to get my nephews and nieces together than talking to each one separately. At no point and in none of their ads and promotions of the PAID Premium Skype Subscription (Paid Premium Account) Microsoft / Skype say anything at all about tablets, Kindle etc, not be able to do group video calls. Please note that you can do one on one video calls but not group video calls. To this date they have refused to explain why Skype app can not be upgraded to accommodate group calls especially since they advertise group calls, make you get the subscription, and then afterwards they reveal to you that it only works on desktops. And this at a time that the entire world has practically gone mobile. Pathetic is the least description for Microsoft's crappy Skype support. But their support in general has a lot to be desired in our days. Microsoft used to habe excellent support. Not anymore. Do yourselves a favor and contact their corporate headquarters and their investors rleations line. Most of you are probably invested through your profit sharing...Their suppoer is utterly rude in our days with very few exceptions. You should also contact the BBB as well as your Attorney General's Consumer Protection office for your state as well as the FTC and the FCC especially if you have a paid subscription. Microsoft's Skype is a "communications" system and should be regulated like Telephone, Cable, and Telecommunications companies are. Nothing will be corrected by Microsoft unless people take action. I have said it before, the only language they understand is the "legal" one.
Hi- I think that they need to turn their own video on. My brother had the same problem at one point - he could see me but I could not see him and it turned out the he had his video off. He went to Tools, Options, and then Video settings and turned the video on. I think you may be able to adjust this right below the call panel where the video camera adjustments are. Both you and the other party must take out the red line that may show on the video camera icon.
I need to clarify that my issue, the one that I have yet to get a logical answer from anyone in Microsoft, is that I paid for a premium account in order to be able to make group video calls with my family overseas on my iPad and on my Kindle Fire HD. After paying for the subscription I have yet to get Skype to work in making group video calls on my iPad and my Kindle. Only on my desktop and/or laptop. I travel all the time and have my iPad and Kindle with me all the time. Yet, the Skype app will not work with with group video calls even if you pay for the premium account. So do not upgrade your account. You can make video calls one on one perfectly OK with the unpaid subscription. Do nto waste your money upgrading to Premium Skype account thinking that you will be able to make group video calls on your iPad, Kindle, etc.
Well after I downloaded the suggest video/camera app for .099, which my husband already had done some weeks back, the ability for us to be able to see each other worked. Thank you so much for your post and help, it really is the only thing that fixed our issue of not being able to see each other.
Acctually the latest updat on the IPAD DOES let you do group calling with the ipad/iphone only. Kindle Still does not support it to my knowledge.
I had this problem too. On the Amazon site for this problem, it was recommended to delete Skype both from the devive AND from the cloud, and then reinstall it.
I did this, and it fixed the problem.
Good luck to all of you.
