Think twice before buying RTX Dualphone 3088

Be careful and think twice before buying RTX Dualphone from ChatandVision. I had ordered and paid for a device through their e-shop thanks to recommendations of Skype.

Device was delivered in a month and was faulty and useless. I've returned device back and claimed either replacement or refund. It is already almost four months !!! without any reasonable response from ChatandVision.

I just wonder how Skype could accept and recommend such a company with awful or no service as their partner.

We to purchased the RTX DUALphone 3088 recently from Chat and Vision after seeing it was promoted on the SKYPE site. I assumed due to the fact that SKYPE have put their name to this product and also promoted on their site Chat and Vision there would have been some quality control checks done.

When we opened the box and started the phone up, there was a black line through the centre of the display which obscured the numbers and names. So I instantly contacted Chat and Vision to ask them to replace the handset as it was brand new.

I was told I would be required to complete the application for assessment form, repackage the product and send it back for assessment even though I had already supplied photos of the issue. 

I requested they replace the faulty item as it was less than 24hrs old and that they cover the cost of sending the damaged product back from Australia to Hong Kong via recorded delivery.

I was informed by Chat and Vision that they would NOT cover any postage, nor would they replace the item.

I am exceptionally upset with the lack of concern or service from Chat and Vision and would never purchase anything from them again. But I am even more disappointed in the SKYPE company as they are promoting a company that clearly doesn’t have any customer service not do they show and duty of care to their shared clients. And we have come to expect more from the SKYPE name.

The RTX Dualphone 3088 on the other hand is a great DECT Skype phone !

Ouch, sorry to hear what happened with you guys. I think if I read this before I ordered I wouldn't have. But I did just order this phone from ChatandVision last week and it arrived yesterday. Didn't have any problems with them, and the phone works great. No problems for me.

Yes, I've meant "...buying from Chat and Vision",

As my problem is persisting for more than 5 months, and Chat and Vision responses to dozens of my mails just admitting that they have [already] received faulty item back [long ago] and promising that their returns team will assess it shortly.

I wonder if they actually have any team, it seems to me that this is just one-man company capable of fraud only.

The most unpleasant thing that Skype continues to support such a bastards by keeping them as Skype certified partner.

It's not very easy to find some more information about Chat and Vision on their web site - "Contact us" page provides no telephones, faxes etc. The only way is to send them mail or to use form on the page - both channels of communications are useless: you will get either formal automated ticket with no further action or nothing at all.

Nevertheless, I've found some info on their "Conditions of sale" page: ChatandVision Ltd is a trading name with registered offices at Flat/RM 12, 25/F Langham Place Office Tower 8 Argyle Street, Kowloon, Hong Kong, and with a subsidiary at The Meridian, 4 Copthall House, Station Square, Coventry, West Midlands, England, CV1 2FL.

Probably, somebody from UK or Honkong can advise how it is possible to file against Chat and Vision for severe violation of their customers' consumer rights?

My RTX was Dead on Arrival.  Neither RTX nor Chat and Vision responds to emails, and there's no other way to contact them, so I have a nice paperweight.  I had to have my credit card company reverse the charges.

Chat&vision would appear to be in breach of UK and European Union consumer law.

Such matters are dealth with in the UK by the local Trading Standards Office and here is a link to the Coventry area office who will deal with this.

I purchased the RTX dualphone and find out that it will not ring for incoming call and I did not get any tech support from the seller and skype is recommended this vendor. the GE phone have the same problems.

I apologize that you have not received the tech support from us with regards to your product. Please try the following to see if it will enable your device to ring.

1. Check to see if the handset has been muted and adjust the volume on the device
2. Check to see if Call Divert has been enabled. You will need to disable call forwarding.
3. Check to see that your device is using the most updated firmware.

If the following steps do not work you can try to reset and restart the entire unit.
