Sign in problems on some Skype phones [ Edited ]

We've recently received some reports of some users having trouble to sign in on their Skype hardware phones (GE 31591 and similar). The phone will not accept a prefectly valid login that works fine when used elsewhere (e.g. on desktop Skype clients or the Skype web account page) with the error "Failed to synchronize with CBL".

UPDATE (21.08.2012): As a temporary workaround please login to your web profile page and enter date of birth and gender information there.

We are looking into this and are confident to provide a fix soon.

considering that my gender & birthdate is automatically displayed to the public and I can't change this - I have to ask - is this Zuckerberg's idea?

What a joke - this is an ongoing issue - I can't reboot the handset - I've can't log off or log back on even. Please get your sh*t together skype... its just not good enough!

My dual phone will not connect to the network. It just sits there forever saying "signing in" but it never does. Skype on the computer is fine. My handset is completely fubar. I've tried rebooting, repowering the unit, and reconnectiing the network. Nothing works. I paid over a 100 bucks for this piece of **bleep**. Now what do I do?

Hi,

I have a Philips VOIP 855 and I cannot go online, I cannot sign out (my status is marked as offline) - basically I can't do anything. Is this a Skype or a Philips issue? This phone was about 200 euros! It worked fine for about 18 months.

Any thoughts on how to sort this out?

Unaccepatble. This GE phone has been the biggest piece of junk. Now this is the final straw. I'm done with Skype. More trouble than its worth. I need a reliable phone for my business and a company who provides better customer service than a stupid "support network" forum "powered by the skype community" How about a real customer service department who can fix my issues for me?

I agree. This has been going on since...August!!! Has anyone at Skype even tried?? I mean, it used to work on my phone (mine is a Chat and Vision Dualphone). I haven't bought a new phone, so....just go find that ol' subroutine, guys, and plug 'er back in. I'm getting a little tired of my account page telling me there has been little activity and that I should try all this other social media and such, to let my business associates know that they can contact me on skype. Guess what - they all have that info, it's on my letterhead, business cards, and email forms. Now what we need is an actual working direct communication system.

i had a RTX dual 3088 phone ,it also have the same issues that most people are talking about,  it is not logging in or recoginzing the connection between phone and phone adapter. since last week it stopped loging in , initial symptom was when ever call comes it disconnects the call, now the RTX says register, and it keeps on rebooting the phone.

such a junk phone , it looks like all skype phone has some sort of virus in which is badly hit, and microsoft is keeping mouth shut, i am going to cancell my subscription
