Philips Voip 841 - Not going to voicemail

I've got a Philips Voip 841 Base and handset. It recently stopped going to voice mail, it rings 3 times, stops for a few seconds, then rings 3 more times. It keeps repeating this pattern.

Wonderful! No, really I am so VERY glad that you too are having this problem. This started happening to me about a week ago also. I have just spent 20 minutes on the phone with Philips helpdesk and they inform me it is a Skype issue. I too have the VOIP 841! Sadly, they do not make this phone anymore and the latest software update is from July 2007 (soon after I purchased this phone). The phone has been working great up until now. I have checked - and rechecked - all my settings on Philips website, to no avail. Perhaps a recent upgrade with Skype has made this phone incompatible. Darn it! I do hope the Skype experts see our messages and shed some light. I don't want to fork out more $$$ for a new phone, but may have to as this is my main contact number. Fingers crossed this problem will be resolved soon!

Ohhh...this doesn't look good for the VoIP 841!! Seems there's no longer Skype support for this phone:

Ok. As for your Philips VOIP841 not going to voice mail. I fianlly figured it out.

I'm going to post this in the dummy way so everyone should understand (like me).

1st. Make sure your SKype is not logged in on your PC or other device.

2nd. You have to set your voice mail greeting on you Philips handheld to the default Skype greeting.

Skype, via chat, has admitted that they are having a problem with "personal greetings", and do not have a timetalbe as to shen this will be fixed.

I did the above and I now have complete use of my Philips VOIP841 phone (albeit the lack of personal greeting).

I hope you cna live with the Skype greeting for now.

Not sure what happened, but my settings on the phone were set to NO for voicemail. I changed that back, and now it works, with my own greeting even. I would check that option for anyone else having issues. Works like a charm again. Too bad there are no more software updates for this phone.

childincar: Thank you! I can confirm that I experienced the same problem. Resetting voicemail greeting to default makes voicemail work again. Setting voicemail back to a personal greeting results in phone ringing without voicemail picking up.

-There seems to be a significant delay in voicemails arriving. Note however, if I sign out and back in, they arrive immediately. -There may still be some lingering issues with Skype's support for this device.
