Hi, I'm new to Skype. Considering using GE 31591. I see that I can purchase the phone here on skype website and get 12 mo unlimited US/CA calling. However, I see that the phone is priced lower somewhere else. Am I required to purchase the phone through skype in order to get this deal? Also, do I get unlimited world calling, or just 200 minutes international calling?
Thank you!

The GE 31591 is available in a variety of bundles that include various calling subscriptions and/or credits. If you choose an offer that does not explicitly include a Skype subscription or credits, then all you are getting is the phone. For the bundles that include 200 (or 400) international minutes, you need to read the fine print very carefully. What you will find is that you get Skype credits sufficient for up to that number of minutes, with the caveat, "The actual number of minutes may vary depending on your calling destination and the number of calls you make. A connection fee applies."
FWIW, I've never seen that phone offered for significantly less than the price for the bare phone on the Skype web site (currently USD 58.99).

Did GE fix the voicemail issue? I am interested in buying this phone, but am reluctant. It seems that there is no decent cordless phone for skype.

I had to force them to take my name and Phone # to let me know when they come up with a solution! My Phone never picks up.It will never stop Ringing until you answer. I think I'll return the Phone. The Co. that made this phone for GE is no longer in business......Thanks, Whizzerbike.
