Re: ConnectMe device and Caller ID

Is there anyway to force a firmware update on the Connect Me? My adapter is currently showing at 1.01 (noted as the current version.) However the noise on the line and no caller id make it useless to even bother continue to evaluate until the actual current version is loaded on there.

Re: ConnectMe device and Caller ID

No way to force it. Make sure you leave it: powered up, your Skype account logged into it, connected to the network (solid green light) and that the e-mail address (system settings page) is populated. If it has not updated within 48 hours please contact Freetalk technical support.

With ConnectMe device I recently saw correct caller ID on an incoming call on my landline!

However, this incoming call was identified by call-waiting caller-id feature. That is, I was already on a landline call when a second landline call came in. So it appears that caller-id with call-waiting will work thru ConnectMe, but caller-id on the first call still does not work.

How weird is that?

I have this same problem and I am on firmware version 1.0.6.3, Skype team is there a fix for this?

Thanks,

Re: ConnectMe device and Caller ID

For such a major lack of functionality.. it should really be made more clear.
I assume most people will buy this device to get skype calls on their regular phones (that they already have to receive landline calls on) It is then really takes functionality away from their hardware. Come on.. caller ID is assumed on new devices.

Re: ConnectMe device and Caller ID

Hi, I just now replied to another post here. Now I read your contribution that caller ID should work on 1.0.6.3.
Do you mean incoming PSTN caller ID works for you? Cos for me it definitely doesnt. (and i do have 1.0.6.3)

Re: ConnectMe device and Caller ID

Hi Simon, your reply made me google around a bit and i have found that caller ID codes and technologies may be different in US and Taiwan.
The question remains, why does the ConnectMe device not simply pass all the phone line data to the phone that it is connected to. The device really only needs to switch the phone to skype when it receives a skype call.
The ConnectMe device doing the ID conversion seems a bit overkill.

Re: ConnectMe device and Caller ID

I have recently noticed some problems with caller ID with ConnectMe. On my landline service I have caller ID, call-waiting, and callerID with call-waiting.

First of all, call-waiting does not work when I am on a Skype call using ConnectMe and I receive a call on my landline! My friends report that the phone just rings forever. This is not good.

Second, callerr-id for landline calls is surely being handled by ConnectMe. I claim this because my caller-id notifications of missed calls show different names than I used to get just from AT&T. Also I sometimes get a missed call notice that simply shows blank for the name/number - it used to be it would say "Private" or "Unknown".
