Cannot install skype. "Executable corrupted. Please re-install"

I recently got a new laptop. It's Asus N55S with Windows 7 Home Premium, i5 2450M processor and nVIDIA GT635M. I've been trying to install Skype for days now and obviously I failed because I get the same error message every time. "Executable corrupted. Please re-install"

I've read older threads before. Downloaded CCleaner and fixed my registry. Downloaded nVIDIA driver from Asus website. My current version is 285.98. There are 3 options of downloads available and I downloaded the latest one. I didn't launch .exe in compatibility mode and I tried choosing the integrated graphics options. None of them works.

Anything I'm missing? I'm not sure how to do a clean format; the people I bought my computer from installed everything for me.

Hopefully you have this sorted - If not go onto the nvideo website and go to support enter your laptop as n55sl and choose to look at your graphics driver.  DO NOT choose the 2012 driver but the middle one which is from the end of 2011.  Whilst this is downloading remove Skype using the remove programms function in Control Panel.  Once the driver has installed it will ask for a reboot and once rebooted you can do a fresh install of skype.  It will now work perfectly.

Same problem here. Asus N55s, Win7 and nvidia GT635M. Tried the same things without success. I try to find a solutions since a few weeks so please tell me when you find anything.

Updating the Intel HD Graphics driver didn't help and I can't find an old version. On the nvidia-website i can't see any Windows drivers for the 635M.

i also have this issue! i briefly fixed it by rolling back the nvidia driver but stupidly accepted an update, now i can't roll it back!

driver version is 8.17.12.8598
date is 11/12/2011

also on an asus n55s

most advice is to downgrade the driver from the nvidea website, but there are only options for linux drivers, none for windows.

im not sure but i don think this is skype's issue to fix, but if they can offer any help that would be great

I am facing exactly the same problem installing skype on my new laptop ( Asus N55SL Windows 7 Professional 64-bit ). I have tried for the past three days downloading skype and re-installing and repairing but to no avail.........the same error message appeared : "executable file corrupted. please re-install ".

Anything to do with anti-virus program perhaps? My antivirus system is Kaspersky.

At the moment NVDIA has released just a part of gt635m drivers (it misses the ones for windows).

The more we are as sooner it will be solved ... I hope

I may have fixed it, download this driver 296.10 for GT580m and it should be compatible with the laptops graphic driver. This has fix many gaming issues for me as well.
