Can't use skype

When I try to use skype, I get the message that I do not have an internet connection.  but, I do have that connection.  What is wrong?  What do I need to do to fix this?

Can you browse websites with Internet Explorer, even if IE isn't your primary browser?  (Skype uses IE for some functions.)

If you can browse with IE normally, clear IE's cache by clicking on Tools > Internet Options > General > Browsing history.  Click on Delete.

If still no joy, try this:

Quit Skype.  Hold the Windows key and type r.  In the box that comes up type %appdata% <enter>.  Scroll down to find the \Skype folder and rename it something like \Skype_old.  Restart Skype.

Note:  Renaming the Skype folder will move IM and call history to the renamed folder.  They can be recovered with a few extra steps.

Can't get a dialing tone when I call friends on landline or mobile. I can't hear them and I think they can't hear me. My mic is working. It seem's the call goes through as my subscription is going down.
