Re: Line Noise

Freetalktry.  I was having some questions about my connection and what I did is I downloaded the latest version of Belarc Adviser (it's free) and I ran that, the nice thing about it is that it maps all your devices that are on your network and where they are .. my Freetalk is on xxx.06 ip  I can see it and then it lists it as a web server, I can click on the web server and up comes the login for the device, I put in my user name and password and you can go to system setting and look at the status of the box.  it tells you if your connected and other information about the box and your netword set up.

Down at the bottom you choose when you want updates, it shows you the current firmware version and there is a box that can be checked if you want to be notified before any updates. Here is that info from mine:

Firmware

Current firmware version 1.0.6.3, last updated on 12-14-2011. From time to time the firmware of your device may be upgraded.

Invalid email address

Hardware Version

0.4.us

Preferred Upgrade Time

Have you tried to remove your other VOIP  and see if that helps... I know, you probably use the netgear VOIP, but I am wondering if it is intercepting something?

This info may or may not help, (hope it does) but I find using Belarc advisor it gives me allot of info on my set up..

Re: Line Noise

Sounds like you are seeing the device as it is showing up ... everything on the connection page is good and if I were you I'd ask for a replacement device and see if that works...

The only thing that I could see if you have some type of firewall enabled which willl not allow downloads...   but as for the device, it sure looks like you see it on the network just fine!

Time to send it back,  if you purchased on a creadit card you can proably put a hold or stop payment if they do not replace the unit...

Re: Line Noise

I have brought my device back in to my home and have once again hooked up my Panasonic KXT cordless phone and the noise is pretty bad..  I have the latest software upgrade 1.0,6,3 on the device (which was updated in Decmeber I think).  I have to say,  I'm pretty disspointed at how Skype and Freetech is handeling this issue and the lack of respones one gets if you try to talk with them through Tech support...  I even had asked for a return lable to send this thing back but they kept saying that a new firmware was being released..   but here we are in Febuary and the problem stil exists with my cordless phone.   Panasoinic is one of the most well known cordless phones around with lots of units on the market.. I can not understand why Skype has not been able to fix this.

I am going to contact American Express on Monday and see what options I have, they are pretty good at protecting their customers and will probaly step in and get a resolution..

I think the device is a good idea, but the NOISE is so back it is difficult to stay on the phone for any amount if time..

The promises of new upgrades seem to have run out.....  and that is way to bad..

Re: Line Noise

I received an email today requesting more information (the same stuff that was in both my previous emails).. and what firmware I was at... I gave them all the info including the Panasoinc phonne I am using.  I've tried about everything.. .  When I plug the phone in to my wall directly is is absolutly quiet.. no noise at all.  I 've tried new cables, move from one place to another and noting seems to help.

So, now I'll proably have to wait 3 days until they come and tell me I need to wait for new software...updates ....   We will see..

By the way anyone check out the new Magic Jack unit?

Re: New Freetalk connect me adapter start up problems..

[ Edited ]

I also have a GE 6.0. Would greatly appreciate someone sending me an email at [edited for privacy] labeled skype fix. I'm trying to run my phone thru skype with the adapter; and have yet to figure out how to buy it (the adapter) without buying another freaking subscription. Skype is the worst run business I can think off. Why don't they have a contact number... an email address or something. My daughter uses magic jack with far fewer problems and it's cheaper. I can't seem to figure out how to adapt my phone. What a freaking joke. Can I buy a generic adapter that is reliable; so I can pick up my phone and call like normal people.

Re: New Freetalk connect me adapter start up problems..

What does that mean... I don't respond to emails. I live in Pa as well. What do I buy to hook up my home phone? My equipment is some of the best; yet I hate verizon's hold. Yes... we all have cell phones; which is why I'm getting rid of Verizon. If I keep having problems with unsolicited answers or no answers to be blunt... Skype is history. At a hundred dollars a pop; one day skype will have an address. This reminds me of Ubuntu. Next they'll be charging people to solve problems; much like Ubuntu ( though I like them). Or better yet... just selling the latest junk like Microsoft! XP is still the best product around... they just declined to support it; while selling more obtrusive junk. Yes; I use window 7; oops window 8 is coming out. Yes.. I bought ME and Vista as well. I should sue them for my money back on those products. I detest companies that stick it to people. Skype is moving in that direction very rapidly. Perhaps the best thing I could do is just unplug everything.

Re: New Freetalk connect me adapter start up problems..

I've tried everything and communicated with their technical suport group now since November and still "NOISE" on both the Skype calls and local calls...  it seems like my volume on both local and Skype calls are getting worse as well!  It is to the point i have asked for a replacement unit be sent to me with a call tag to return the one I have. I've done all the Tech troubling shooting they have asked and still the NOISE is terrible and almost to the point of just pulling it all together....

I sent them an email after they asked me to do a full reset with the paperclip, and still nothing ... I am at the lattest firmware 1.0.6.3  My phone when plugged in directly to the wall is crystal clear (as all of my panasonic phones have been) but when I put the Skype adapter back in line "Forget it" ..   I figure either they will send me an advanced replacement module or I will contact American Express and send them all my documentation, they are really good about protecting the customer and will just credit back my cost and then ,they will go after Skype.   I hope it does not get to this, but Im running out of options and I ran out of patience 2 months ago!

Re: Line Noise

All, here an update.

The support team said they couldn't get to my freetalk adapter via the MAC address and concluded that the hardware seems broken. They responded quickly to my request to replace the hardware and today at 8 pm i got the new adapter. Plugged it in, configured it [i noticed that now the adapter had version 1.05 on it. Plugged in my Panasonic telephone [wireless, 2 stations] and right away i got a dial tone and could call.

So it seems for me the issue is now fixed. Lets see whether the module will soon upgrade to the latest firmware over night. I wish this would have worked as good the first time ...
