Skype for Android with video calls is here [ Edited ]

Skype for Android 2.0 is here introducing the long awaited video calls on the go. See it in action here:

Video calls are currently supported on Google Nexus S, HTC Desire S, Sony Ericsson Xperia neo and Sony Ericsson Xperia pro, but we are working on extending this list shortly.

Did you have a chance to try it out already? Who did you call?

Glad this is finally available, but why for only these devices?  Why not all Android 2.3 devices with front-facing video cameras, such as the Samsung Galaxy SII?

You must be kidding me! I have HTC incredible S...where is the video-calling for the device that was on the market before Desire S and was supposed to be the top of the line?

WTH!!!!! Not compatible with other devices, not even android honeycomb tablets????? So what's the point of having a front viewing camera??? I expected more from skype and android developers... since I'm using an ASUS Transformer TF101 and it says it is not compatible!!!!! Please we need a solution because I really need this service!!! Thanks...

I hope, at least the popular phones like Samsung galxy s i9000 will follow soon.

But for me it is unbelievable, that even googletalk doesn´t support videotalk....

I am used to the very slow and poor development of Skype apart from Win/Mac.... the Linux-users (me) waited more than a year for a super small update.....

For me all this shows, that huge and fast development is only done, when a cachback is expected. VideoCalling doesn´t bring money (multi-video-calling is not really smart on mobile devices?)....

But i am still hopeful and wait for my sgs to be supported soon....

Still not working on my phone. Though at least it doesn't just hang on "signing in" anymore. Now I get an error message, and an option to Exit (which doesn't work, a notification icon still appears on top as if trying to connect. ) It does give much better log traces this time. That is just wrong to limit it to certain devices. 

Google has released a API to enable the use of video apps with front facing camera.

And as I read the API there is no limitation to any device. Please remove the limitation ASAP.

Geez, I just went and uninstalled my version of Skype which WAS working just fine and dandy and when I go to install the new version that will allow me to make video calls, I can't install it because it's not compatible with my tablet.

Now I can't even go BACK to the previous version because it's not available on the Market and I can't download the APK from the Skype website to do a side-load of it.

Come on, seriously?  This is pretty bad, not even being able to find an older version that will work on my tablet.
