Re: Skype UPDATE for Android 4.0 overdue. End user receives green video image

I have the exact same issue after I recently upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich. The recieving party gets my video, but with a green tinge (like green sepia, if that makes sense). I have tried re-installing skype but I can't figure it out.

It may be a problem with the change/upgrade of ICS codec to accomodate mkv format (maybe). In anycase I haven't been able to gleen much from google for this particular problem. However, quite a few users are encountering major problems with skype over ICS, hope SKYPE would listen

Re: Skype UPDATE for Android 4.0 overdue. End user receives green video image

I upgraded my HTC Sensation XE to the latest version of android (4.0) yesterday. Eversince then whenever I video chat on skype, my friends see a green screen ... sort of green shade. I am not sure if I am being paranoid, but I think that my camera quality in general has suffered as well.

Does anyone know what I can do for my skype? Someone suggested to download and install an alternate version of skype, which I did, however, I was unable to make any kind of video call with that version. In fact, I can make a call, but the video never goes beyond initialization, though I can see the guys on the other end.

I have the same problem ever since I upgraded the latest version of android. I have seen a post somewhere on here that someone has had a response from Skype saying they know of problem and are working on it though won't give a date for fix.

Yup, I emailed HTC recently since Skype was pointing the finger at HTC & they responded on the 23rd of June:

"Dear Mr. Antonio,

I know how handy it is to keep in touch with your friends and I will be glad to help out. Although I don't have a specific ETA on the next firmware update for your device, the kind of driver update that the Skype admin was discussing would generally be part of a maintenance release. While we cannot guarantee compatibility with third party applications please keep an eye out in the future for updates as they are made available.

Thank you for being a part of the HTC community. I hope you are having a great weekend!

I agree. It would be in everybody's best interest to switch to TANGO because this problem will never be resolved with Skype considering Jelly Bean is now being pushed out. I've been using Skype for several years and will put my money/credits to another vendor that supports my devices. No Thanks! Microsoft
