Skype Subscription, Calling over Wi-Fi

Hi Everyone,

I have a Skype subscription, but when I sign in on my new Galaxy SII (runs on Android 2.3) and try to make a call while using my Wi-Fi network, it tells me that I have zero credit and won't connect the call. It's as if Skype doesn't realize that I have a subscription and won't connect any calls because I don't have any credit.

Has anyone else run into this problem? How do i fix this? What's going on?

Thanks!

Anyone? Anyone have a clue? Is there a number I can call or a direct email for technical help?

Re: Skype Subscription, Calling over Wi-Fi

Hi phillips_beth!

Just want you to know I'm using a similar setup and for me it's working ok. Talked for almost an hour earlier tonight, no probs.

I have a rooted SGS2 and with Gingerbread 2.3.5 stock rom, latest Skype app installed. I use a Skype In number (regular phone number), with call a country for free plan and voicemail. I was making the calls. Calls are logged as 0 (zero) costs.

I do however have a small amount of credits on my account. Could it be that you must have that to make regular calls at all? Could you try adding some and see if it works?

I'll gladly elaborate with you!

And maybe you can help me with I'm here for. Can't get voicemaill to function on the Android app. Do you use that?

Thanks.

Snah

Hi Snah,

It finally seems to be working for me. My regular v-mail works fine and the only thing I use through Skype is outbound calling. Thanks for replying though!

I see yours is working now... mine still isn't. I'm on a Motorola Atrix. Same problem - doesn't recognize my subscription. Still waiting for someone to help me.

Re: Skype Subscription, Calling over Wi-Fi

They way I got it to work, was on my Galaxy SII, everytime I want to make a call it says I can use "Dialer" or "Skype". I choose the Skype option. If I try to actually open Skype as an app, it doesn't work. I only call when I'm on Wi-Fi, so I hope it charge me data or anything. Also, I'm not sure if it charges me minutes when I use it this way, but I have unlimited evenings and weekends...

SKYPE STAFF - Can you look into this?!?!?! Why doesn't your App work?

Re: Skype Subscription, Calling over Wi-Fi

Have you tried checking your Username?  I recently had trouble signing in to my account until I stopped assuming that I could use all lower case for the Username.  Apparently, at least for some purposes, the case must be exactly as entered when the account was set up.
