Hi
Why can't we download this from the Skype website? It makes no sense to send Android users who are paying customers to Google. Why should we have to set up an account at Google when we already have an account and pay for services at Skype?
Thanks,
Tablet user still running a skype Beta.

I tried this 2.8 version on my Xiron tablet with android 2.2 on it. It will install and seems to function just upto the login procedure. After hitting "Aanmelden" (login) it starts with "Bezig met aanmelden" (Busy logging in) and then shows the message "Skype werkt niet meer. Opnieuw aanmelden of skype sluiten?" (Skype does not work anymore. Login again or close Skype?) If I hit login again this behavior is the same.
I CAN login to the skype network on this tablet with the Skype version 1.0.0.5 that only has chat functionality (And this chat function works OK)
Thus it is quite strange that login does NOT work with newer versions.
Please look into it and give possible solutions or sugestions to solve this.

I am pretty dissapointed with this downgrade (This is what I see the latest version is). I have an LG 3d P920 phone. The previous version didnt just look better, but also worked 100% (If anyone could provide me with a link to download for the install it would be greatly appreciated btw).
When I initially "upgraded", Skype takes ages to open up. And when it does, it shows all my past week to months conversations as new, so I get the red indicator on top with all my messages as unread. It took around 5 minutes to start up properly, and I couldnt open even one conversation while its loading since it shows blank.
So I tried what people suggested clear the data, cache. Even cleared and re-installed fresh. For the first week it went ok, but now again it shows all my recent conversations as new on signing in again!!!
This version is absolutely terrible, and I would please request a download link for the previous version.

Samsung TAB GT-P1000, Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 with Skype v 2.8.0.920 and Nokia BH905i headset.
In addition to previous trouble with headphones - this "new and improved" version of Skype is "new and bad".
On Wifi:
* Startup takes a lot of time.
* Contacts not getting up until several minutes after logging in.
* History of instant messaging takes several minutes to get.
* Old notifications keeps coming back.
* Bad sound
* Crashing a a lot.
* The Bluetooth problem from previous version has becoming worse. (See comment to the quickfix under this)
From version 2.7.0.907
* Whenever I or the other part starts talking all sound drops - and I have to change to speakerphone. All other Bluetooth activity works fine when using The TAB with 3G or GSM with regular calls.
This quickfix doesnt work after upgrading to v 2.8.0.920
Stop all Skype activity services in android with Android Assistant, attach headset with Bluetooth,and then starts Skype. It works fine. But I have to do that every time before a call. Not a good workaround and crappy programming from Skype

Hi there,
Running Skype for Android 2.8.0.920 on a LG Optimus Black P970 under Gingerbread 2.3.4.
Skype runs fine and I have no problem with audio calls.
Received a video call the other day and when I activated my front facing camera the small 'self portrait' vid in vid was upside down and inverted left to right. The call worked faultlessly in all other aspects.
Searched this blog and came across your advice to clear data and re-boot. That I did, re-logging in as expected only to find that I now have no Skype credit recorded - there was and should be approx EURO 8.something in there!
Not had chance to check the vid yet - but not at all happy losing my credit, what can I do?
