Don't blame my phone because your app is buggy. This issue has nothing to do with the performance of my phone so stop pointing fingers. I was using 2.7 all day today and then I updated to 2.8 and right when I made my first call then the issue started. I have no memory hogging apps whatsoever. I wonder if the addition of my phone's model to officially supported phones for video calling has anything to do with this.
How soon can you fix this? Obviously something was changed from the previous version that messed things up. Your developer needs to at least test the app on popular phones like mine before releasing a bad update like this.
As I previously mentioned, please provide me with a Skype 2.7 apk file so I can stop using the disastrous 2.8 update. If I can't get one from you then I will have no choice but to find one from some random website and risk installing malware on my phone.

Hi yogevlevy18
Please try the following steps (best if connected via Wifi for these):
1. Reboot your device after the installation and try again.
2. If #1 failed, go to Settings - Applications - Skype - Clear data, reboot your device and login to Skype again.
3. If #1 failed, uninstall Skype, reboot your device, reinstall Skype 2.8 from the Google Play Store.
If all these steps fail, please let me know whats the Android version you are using and what connection type it's connected with.
I have the same phone as yogevlev18, and the exact same problem. After installing 2.8 overtop of 2.7, the "spinner" was on constantly. My CPU was pegged at a constant 15%. It was taking forever to switch windows, between contacts and various IM windows. Every time I quit and logged in again, my "recent events" started out empty and it began re-loading all the previous chats from scratch. There was about a 15-20 second delay for displaying text any time I switched to an IM window.
I tried #1, no effect. I tried #2, no effect. After trying #3, I finally see the speed increases you're talking about with this release. The spinner is gone, everything seems really smooth. It now doesn't seem too concerned about fetching chats from two weeks ago. Chats stay in the events log, they aren't reloaded every time I quit and log in again.
Hopefully it stays like this and doesn't degrade as history grows, and hopefully you guys fixed the caller ID reset bug?
Thanks for the post. Uninstalling and reinstalling definitely fixed it.

Just updated on my LG Prada 3.0. Bluetooth works fine when making the first call I've logged in. However, if I want to make a second call after I finished the first call, no sound from the the Bluetooth headset. Tried to switched back to speaker during the second call. No sound from the speaker as well. Need to sign out and log in again to fix this problem. This is so annoying!

Ringtone still hard coded and too silent
So, you still haven't managed to make the ringtone user selectable, and the one you hard coded is barely audible. What's wrong with you guys?

HTC Sensation with stock ICS
After update couldn't sign in. Cleared program memory, reinstalled, restarted phone. After numerous attempts program managed to sign in. At firs Skype haven't loaded contacts nor my profile details. After few restarts it shows profile details and loaded some contacts, some of them showed as online. But still, Skype is unusable...

i'm wondering if "reboot" is a feature added by Microsoft.
The three steps don't fix my issue. I can't chat to anyone nor see the chat history, it keeps loading for ever.
Device: SG SII
Android: 2.3.4

Im writing this out of sheer annoyance which this application(after update) has caused. Untill the update, skype used to work all fine(force close-being a normal phenomena) but it was all in the tolerance level. But now update has deteriorated its features,I use skype on my phone(Sony Xperia minipro) I can see the other person clearly but the other person can see a very distorted/water like video of mine(exactly like how you'd see a person behind a waterfall). Tried reinstalling but no use. I want you to fix this ASAP as it is an inevitable part of my communication . I think this is a commendable application and I want you to maintain its niche.
Regards
