Today we are thrilled to announce the new version of Skype for Android. With [invalid URL], you can send photos and videos to friends or family from your Android smart phone. It’s now even easier to share those special moments with your loved ones or send files and view documents on the go while on a business trip. It’s free and works over WiFi or a mobile data plan* and you can even send files to people using Skype on a PC or Mac.
In-App Picture or video
As well as bringing you photo, video and file sending, we’ve also improved video quality on [invalid URL] on devices using NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 chipset, which include amongst others; the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Motorola XOOM and Acer Iconia Tablet. Now you can take full advantage of the big screen with better video quality than ever before.
We are also working hard to continuously extend the list of whitelisted devices for video support – this simply means that these handsets have been tested by Skype’s Engineering Team to bring you the best possible video experience. Latest additions include the HTC Amaze 4G, Motorola DROID 4 and Motorola DROID RAZR. In general, anyone with an Android smart phone running Android 2.2 (Froyo) or above can try out Skype video calling for free. We’ll let you know if you can turn on video calling when you first start up Skype on a non whitelisted handset.
We’re excited about these new enhancements, adding even more value to the things you can already do on Skype for Android like video calling, sending and receiving instant messages for free or making phone calls to mobiles and landlines worldwide at [invalid URL]. We’ve brought this out just in time for the upcoming holiday season, so you can share your special moments with your loved ones.
Furthermore take the chance to have your questions answered by our Skype for Android prodcut team by joining the #SkypeTalks session on Thursday, December 15 at 6 PM GMT/1 PM EST/10 AM PST.
To participate tweet your Skype for Android questions at @SkypeTalks or @SkypeAndroid and make sure to use the hashtag #SkypeTalks. Don't have a Twitter account? Don't fret: the #SkypeTalks session will also be happening simultaneously here on the [invalid URL].
Now download [invalid URL] from the [invalid URL] or simply scan the QR code below. And please don't forget to rate the app on the Android Market so we know if we are doing things right or wrong.
I recommend to download the latest Skype and search first.
To get the most out of Skype I recommend Skype Premium.

Thanks for the update! The only other thing that I need is the ability to exit Skype - not just logout (and have it remember my password), without having to kill the associated process/service

Hi,
New version looks great, new sign out ability and remembering password is long overdue and works well... However...
So far the main function of the app has failed! Call kept dropping out after 30-40 seconds, then wouldn't re-connect, kept saying the other person was busy. Occuring on both a HTC Desire & Sensation.
Cheers.

Just updated on my Xperia X8 and the app now refuses to load. I get a message saying:
"The application Skype (processcom.skype.raider) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I have tried again a few times and rebooted the phone but still get the same message.
Help!
