Skype 2.5 will not install

I have a generic Android phone running Froyo 2.2 and when I try to install Skype 2.5 it will not install initially.  When it does install after several tries and I submit my username and password it freezes up and I must 'kill' the Skype service.

Additional information, I am on a dual-sim phone using AT&T as my default service and a SingTel sim in the second slot.
