yes you can, but i think just a voice call not video call. i'm still researching if video call works even the phone's camera is at the back.

Yeah it is compatible but I am having a hard time.... skype really sucks on galaxy y. You can hear other person but other person could not hear your voice. Skype crashes many many many and many times... and sometimes by luck you can talk like 3 min without interruption.

R u talking about voice call or video call? I have not found any video call option in samsung galaxy y. Please give me detail process if u r succesfully installed and used that. I can not even see the video of others who have the video call option.

i was talking about voice call, but now i have problem with calling actually, i get an error message : call could not be established yet, i am next to the modem i have full connection. any idea to make skype works ?

I'm having exactly the same issue with my Samsung Galaxy Y. The microphone works well until the 'lockscreen' comes on and effectively deactivates it. At that point I can still hear the people on the other end of the call, but they cant hear me.
Its not good - Skype please find a solution.

I just buy this phone and have a problem too. When i make a voice call, i can hear people but they can't hear me my voice is change by a weird noise for them. Also try with echo123, i record my message and when i listen it i can hear the weird noise 5 second then the skype robot say me there is a problem. Is there any solution ?
Skype version 2.6.0.95
Android version 2.3.6
