yup, this is a horrible horrible bug that basically makes Skype useless for my Android at this point... I'm about ready to cancel the entire service and completely switch over to Google Voice even though I have been a paying Skype customer for 5 years. Skype customer service has not been responsive enough and the fact that they're still working on this after almost a month since the buggy release makes me question their commitment to customers. What a terrible experience!
I happened to have a backup copy. You can try http://www.oldapps.com/skype.php. Other than that, try a Google search for a specific version or a P2P client. If you can't find it, let me know.
FYI, I tried Google Voice with GrooVe IP over WAN (i.e., optimal conditions). It was unreliable and, at best, the voice quality wasn't even close to Skype.
I'm still using the 2.6 app. Except for battery drain, it works fine.
Everytime open the Skype android app and login it resets my caller ID. It's extremely annoying, no one answers my calls because they don't see my caller ID number and i'm forced to have to log into the Skype website and select my pre-saved number. It used to always work without any problems.
You could fix it simply by making an older version of skype available to us so that we can use it. Right now the new version is not working. Pretty, perhaps, but entirely useless for those of us who need caller ID.
Please care enough about us to make a working, older version available!
