No outgoing video on Lenovo A1 tablet

I just received a Lenovo A1 (IdeaPad_Tablet_A1_07) 7 inch tablet. Running Android version 2.3.4. I just installed Skype verson 2.5.0.160

I can not do video calling.

I did a test call to my wife. She is sitting in the same room so I can tell what is going on.
When Skype comes up I;
1, select the contact
2. tap "Skype video call"
3. It comes up and rings the contact
4. AND, I see a black screen (NO picture) with a note at the top of the screen that says, "Initializing camera".
in the basic setup I have;
1. "Enable video calling" checked
2. "Enable rotation and zoom" checked
3. "Receive video calls from" contacts (wife IS one of my contact
4. "Show my video to" set to "Anyone"
5. "Video quality" on high (tried setting to low with no diff.

The cameras are working as I used the camera program that comes with the pad and it works just fine. I am completely out of that program when I try to use Skype.

Please help.

I have the same problem with my Lenovo A1 . I am able to connect on Skype and receive audio and video but I am unable to send video . This is quite disappointing . Who can fix this problem ? Is it the responsibility of Skype or Lenovo ?

Y'know, the problem is this is a user-to-user forum and apparently there aren't many here who are using the Lenovo tablet.

I'm a Windows type of guy, but I can tell you that there have been some cases with Windows machines, including Lenovo laptops, where a problem like you're experiencing was due to another application, one that came with the computer, using the webcam.

Due to my lack of hands on with the tablet I can't be more specific but you might try making sure any other application using the webcam is completely stopped or even uninstalled.

I did make sure other apps are not trying to use the camera at the same time. I am also a Windows type and this is my first venture into Android. I purchased the A1 mostly to do two things, Skype and another app. At this time neither app seems to be able to work on it! Bummer!!!!

I have tried to fins a place to report a bug (?) to Skype, but every time the trail leads back here. That's why I am trying to see if maybe some one from Skype is monitoring and might give me a pointer.

I don't think it's a Skype problem, but it would be good to get a backup confirming that.

It is the same with the Odys XPress 8" - so i guess it is a problem from Skype with Android.

I have a lenovo desktop and I use to be able to skype my camera works but the video button does not so i can not skype and no one can skype me back what the heck is going on? my son tried skyping me from the same room and it did not even ring on my end, I have deleted skype 3 or 4 times and then re downloaded it, but still the same problem, any one have any ideas obviously skype is not giving us any answers  glenda
