Minutes used by Skype get charged as phone usage instead of internet usage

Hello,

I make calls from my Droid phone using the Skype app to the person who uses Skype on her computer. This month I found that the calls made through Skype started to show up in Verizon system as the calls made from phone to phone (with the area code 404) and I have to pay for all the minutes I used as if I were calling to that phone number. Verizon representative said that in their system these calls are shown as regular phone calls and the Skype app is to blame and I should contact Skype about it. I have been making Skype calls from this phone for over a year and have never had any problem.

Please help me to solve this issue.

The same happened to me. After more than 12 months using skype to skype calls, last bill has overages charge for $500. 

From what I found (404) is Atlanta, GA datacenter where Verizon and Skype are integrated.

All previous months, some process at Verizon would erase all calls to (404) numbers, so they would not appear on the bill at all. It seems that stopped happening.

After talking to 4 reps from Verizon support, last one opened ticket with offline support that will be answered in a few days.

they have to pay back. they adverstise on thier website that skype to skype international is free.

im with orange phone network on an android phone i was using skype to skype app with my friend when its started to charge me on my phone bill. i have contacted orange and they say that the problem is with skype but dont know how to contact skype. as ur post seems to be similar to mine but with a different network do u have any advice? and how do u contact skype
