Low Audio Quality and Constant Noise in Android app for HTC One X / HTC EVO 4G LTE [ Edited ]

I have seen several similar threads but I don't think they are addressing these problems in particular:

First off, I have skype 2.8.0.920 install on my newly purchased HTC ONE x and EVO 4g LTE.

Whenever I skype with someone, the voice comes continuously distorted like listening on blown speakers. I tried on earpiece, loud speakers, headsets on different networks with no luck to date. My iphone having a quite outdated skype version works perfect while skype for android on BOTH HTCs simply drives me crazy.

Please notify skype community(especially htc/android folks) if there is a known issue with this release and whether you are planing to fix the problem.

So apparently this has still never been solved.  I just upgraded to Skype 3.1.0.6458 today.

Overall, the app seems much snappier, which is fantastic.  However, the poor audio problems presist.
