No response from Lenovo yet - I think our main contact was out of the office last week. Will chase tomorrow.

thanks for the offer. At present, we are seeing different behaviours across devices, and we'll need their help to solve the zoom problem. Will keep you all posted.
Regards
Dan

Just curious - has anyone tried to use an app (like pocketcam) as a source for the video in Skype?

After the last Android Skype app update, it works fine as long as the device is kept in "picture" position. If it is put in "landscape" position, then the recepient of the call will still see me upside down, but this is a great improvement, which at least makes skype usable on a Lenovo A1 tablet.
Thanks for the effort, but still looking forward to seeing it working in "landscape" position.

Doesn't work correctly even in picture mode. The image is at very low resolution (looks more like tetris with my face) and it's not even centered. You have to put the tablet to your left to see your image. Most likely because they do not focus on the center, but starting from image origin (top right ?).

I can confirm the same. The picture is correctly rotated, but it still looks like an zoomed image. I hope this last problem can be fixed easily. The same problem I also noticed in Google talk on Android. But this was a fine progress already. ![]()
Google for "Petition Front Camera"

This is indeed good news - the problem of rotated video images seems to be solved. Works fine on my A1. Thanks!
Dan, do you already have any news or feedback from Lenovo regarding the zoom issue?

Maybe I was a bit too quick - unfortunately, there still seems to be a major problem with video rotation. When you Video-Skype from one Lenovo A1 to another A1 (to distinguish the two Lenovos, I'll call one the "A1-a" and the other "A1-b") the following problems occur.
Scenario 1a:
- A1-a was held vertically (with the Lenovo sign being on top)
- A1-a was capturing video with the frontcam (pointing to your face)
- A1-b was receiving the video stream. It was held vertically (with the Lenovo sign being on top). The received video stream was rotated 90° clockwise on A1-b.
Scenario 1b:
- Same as Scenario 1a, but with A1-a capturing with the backcam (on the A1's backside)
- A1-b was receiving the video stream. It was held vertically (with the Lenovo sign being on top). The received video stream was rotated 90° counterclockwise on A1-b. I made a photo to demonstrate this:
The A1's screen lock was not activated in neither of the two systems in any of the scenarios.
When Sykpe video did work correctly was if the video capturing and transferring system is a Lenovo A1 and the receiving system is a notebook - in my case running Win7Prof 32bit.
Hope that helps
Lars

Simple.
Nothing is solved, nothing is fixed.
I hope Lenovo gives us ICS.
I hope ICS will fix the problem.
I hope Skype will take some action.
With out Skype, which I pay for 2 accounts, long term contracts, etc.. I should of bought Kindle Fire! Amazing Tablet! Compared to buggy A1.
Lenovo just doesn't pay attention to small details.
Skype...Some of us are paying customers you know...
