Bought Lenovo's Ideapad A1 (couldn't resist $25 off from OfficeDepot making it the best price available right now). The first thing I checked was Skype and I am terribly disappointed that it isn't working properly. Please work with Lenovo to get it fixed.

OK, what I don't understand about this is that Google Talk video works just fine on the A1. You would think that Skype, with all it's high powered programmers that Microsoft has available they would be able to figure this one out. I guess Lenovo is just not Samsung. Dan, the masses do count buddy, not all of us can afford the high price of a Samsung.

Hi Dan,
thanks for the update. Glad to hear that things are still in progress.
While working on the video rotation issue, it would be really great if you guys were able to also solve the issue with the far too high digital zoom level of the front camera in one go (hope I'm not asking for too much here). The problem as you know is that with the standard zoom level the Skype app uses for the front camera, you can merely see more than your eyes and nose when holding the tablet in front of you with the arm outstretched.
So far, no application (neither Tango, Google Talk, etc.) I tried with the A1 was able to produce a wider angle picture - however, the Lenovo Camera application of the A1 does the job perfectly well.
Therefore this will most likely be a "Lenovo" issue. Hopefully you will at least get the relevant information from Lenovo to solve that problem as well - or tell them that they should do it?. Maybe the camera's zoom level can be set during initialization of the camera by the Skype app?
Lars

It has been 3 months.. put some camera configurations in the app already. (Flip, mirror, zoom in and out). It really can't be that hard.

We are still working on this - it has been handed to our video specialists since it is deeper than a simple UI change. It is causing us some headaches, but we will persevere.
Please bear with us,
Dan

Hi Dan,
Sorry I'm very late to this discussion - I wanted to ask whether your plans are to enable an "A1 compatibility mode" that can be turned on and off?
The reason I ask is that Lenovo have recently released the kernel sources for the A1, and it's clear from examining it that there are a few hacks and errors in the kernel that are responsible for the odd behaviour of the camera in applications such as Skype. The A1 developer community will probably fix these in time - my worry is that if we fix the underlying kernel issues, any version of Skype that attempts to work around these issues will probably appear "broken" as it will be compensating for no-longer existing problems.
Many thanks!

Hi Folks!
Any update on this or any plan when you'll release a beta for try out?
