Re: Doesn't remember the password

I agree with u, I prefer to switch off skype when I choose it. Beside that it's very anoying to introduce the password everytime I want to connect to skype. They have it on the computerversion so please introduce it on the mobile version

Re: Doesn't remember the password

Please listen to your customers Skype.

I use Skype extensively on my work and home PCs and used to on my Android phone but ever since you took the option away to actually quit the app (whilst remembering your password for next time) I hardly use it on my phone any more. It's a complete pain to have to re-type my unique and hard to remember password each time I want to pop online with Skype to IM a few friends and I really don't like Skype consuming RAM and CPU for the approx. 22 hours of the day that I don't need Skype for!

Until this is fixed, Skype on Android is too bothersome to use for me, my girlfriend and some of my friends and family.

Re: Doesn't remember the password

So if there's no rational scenario where a user would want this, is there a business justification? If skype was doing this to force their way into being used more other voip apps, it would be irratiing, but at least understandable.

As it is, it feels like the decision was made by a programmer to save themselves programming effort, multiplying and foisting that effort onto users instead.

Re: Doesn't remember the password

I was having the same problem too on Nexus S. I would have to enter my password every time and was wondering why, since I had "sign in automatically" selected in my settings. I never thought about it being for my own security. Thanks for explaining.

Re: Doesn't remember the password

on my motorola atrix I solved the problem by signing into skype and adding it to the task manager's auto-end list.

the next time I started skype I was already signed in !

Re: Doesn't remember the password

what app are you using to kill it? i remember after killing skype using android's stop service, it would come back on by itself after a while. are you sure that's not the case for you too? if it is, then you are actually wasting more battery life with the continuous start/stop.

also, i think if you restart your phone, you still have to key in the password.

Re: Doesn't remember the password

I think the problem is that having skype running all the time will drain battery very fast, no more than 4 ours on my galaxy s, so we need to stop it completely from working even if off line and put it back only when we need it. It's no sense to rewrite every time the password, why ?

Re: Doesn't remember the password

It may not make sense to you, but that's because you don't understand mobile phone software. Just accept that there's a good reason for entering the password each time that you don't need to know about.

and you elk-tamer do not seem to truly understand security. you must be one of those that uses the same password for multiple websites. good luck when ONE website gets hacked, revealing that password, and making you vulnerable at all the other websites. lol!

a better option is to have unique and strong passwords at every single website, and this can be easily achieved with tools such as LastPass and KeePass. thus, having a "save password" option will be very helpful here (especially when you have a 20 character password like mine). regardless, users should be given the CHOICE as to whether we want to save the password or not.
