Doesn't remember the password

Skype 2.0 doesn’t remember the password. (On Samsung Galaxy S with Android 2.3) This makes Skype almost unusable if you have to enter the password every time you start it.

I don’t know if this has something to do with the way you quit the program. Is there another way to close Skype than the menu button and “sign out” (or something similar in the English version)?

I'm not sure why you want to sign out of Skype? If you don't sign out but simply turn the phone off then Skype will automatically sign in again when you switch the phone on. (check "sign in automatically" in the settings menu)

Because Skype is now integrated to the address book of the phone, it needs to be always running in the background. Even when you log out it is still loaded, and indeed for security reasons, when you log out, you need to log in again with a password.

If your concern is to save battery or your data alowance on 3G, then the alternative to signing out is to set your status to "offline". This stops all network traffic, and minimizes the Skype activity, so there should be no significant battery drain. Select "Profile", then press the status indicator in the blue bar at the top to choose the status you want. You can put yourself back online the same way.

Hope that helps

Re: Doesn't remember the password

that's nonsense.

I don't want it integrated with my address book, and i want to be able to sign and close the app, to save battery ram, and the new running service does not allow us to do that.

I think we should be able to have a choice.

Until then i have reverted to the old version.

Because I dont need always skype run! Sometimes I need to close skype to save battery energy and free memory! THIS IS VERY USEFUL FUNCTION TO CLOSE AND UNLOAD APP FROM MEMORY ON ANDROID PLATFORM! But new version have no option for this.

I need to unload skype from memory because:

1) to free RAM for another heavy load application

2) to set battery consumption on extreme low level

3) just because I dont need skype for all the time, why it should eat memory and battery???

Why would I wanna have skype running while I'm not using it?

Re: Doesn't remember the password

Skype in Offline mode consumes 52 MB of RAM, its too high even for in use application, WHY I SHOULD LOSS RAM CAPACITY JUST TO STORE UNUSED APPLICATION???

personally I want to sign out of skype whenever Im in work, we use the im function in work &  as I have the desktop client installed, I dont need to get notifications all day on my handset when I receive them on my pc. Apart from the battery consideration it means I would have to change my phone to silent all day otherwise Ill get msg beeps, not ideal in an office setting.

Also as others have said I sign out overnight most nights to conserve battery.

Please release an update to support video on the I9100 soon

Re: Doesn't remember the password

@whosurpaddy: In your case you can simply switch Skype to Offline during your office hours and at night to conserve battery.

Re: Doesn't remember the password

I also do not want skype running all the time (even as offline). I do not want it to use ANY ram/cpu unless I specifically start the app. All my passwords are unique, so I do not remember them offhand. I need skype to be able to remember them for me so that I can start the app with just a few clicks. Also helpful will be a QUIT button so that after I am done with skype, I can unload it from memory without having to sign out.
