Same problem here. What is the best alternative to Skype? Google talk?

I can't post the link but if you google skype on bionic, there is a post on engadget that shows it.

The engadget demo is with the Etna Bionic that was scrapped last spring, not the Targa Bionic which we have in our hands.
Would be extremely disappointed in Skype if they do not fix the issue.
Google talk between Bionic and a PC in Greece had poor audio quality when I used it with my parents, in contrast to Skype between the PC to PC chats. This is unrelated to the network which is faster on my Bionic than on my PC.

You can only see and hear the Skype User calling you, they can hear you so can do voice call but they can not see you. Skype is apparently working on an update so our front facing camera will be turned on. Back in January at the CES 2011 they were showing a demo for Skype Video, whatever happened to that, don't know.
Our Droid Bionic works fine on "Tango" video call application and also on "Google Talk" (our phone came preloaded with the "Talk" (google talk). You need to download the Tango from the android market. Both application needs to be viewed on landscape and not portrait, the same with Skype for now, it needs to be viewed as landscape mode.
theos0o's Skype *does* 2-Way Video on Verizon Droid Bionic

For more adventurous Bionic users, Skype 2.1.0.46_v11 by theos0o does work for 2-way video calling on Bionic running Android 2.3.4 and System 5.5.886.XT875.Verizon.en.US
Look at details and download from xda-developers forum under
/showpost.phpp=16889575&postcount=1262
Or just Google "theos0o Skype v11 1262"
Uninstall (or Freeze) the prior Skype installation, then install theos0o's.
Under the "Advanced Settings" menu, select (check) the following options:
Force-enable video-calling (checked)
Force-enable both cameras (checked)
Avoid setFPS (checked)
Use valid preview surface (checked)
Use fixed camera IDs (UNCHECKED)
Enable portrait video-calling (checked)
Flip incoming video-image (UNCHECKED)
Prefer fullscreen incoming video (UNCHECKED)
Front Camera (All settings left at default)
Back Camera (All settings left at default)
