Prepared this msg 1/2 hour ago, but for some reason it lost my membership which I signed up for last night. I've wasted 8 hours attempting to make a phone call and don't have any more time. Am hoping someone can provide a few hints or the answer this evening as I have a few serious monetary calls to make tonight.
1) Installed Skype on HP laptop which is the home computer. Did all that's required including paying USD 10 to the account, inputting my phone number, and several contact phone numbers, etc., etc. Can't call out -- hear an ad or 2 and a burp and then it is silent and returns to the input screen.
2) A) Also installed Skype app to the Samsung Note GTN7000 and input the required info. When I tried to make a local call here in Thailand, had a popup asking to choose if I wanted to call using Skype or the normal line -- whatever it was called. Made 3 attempts and had that popup each time. Then checked the box whatever it read, and the next time that popup wasn't seen. Went through the program directions and couldn't reach the concluding method to restore the popup -- perhaps it's out of date and doesn't include the Note. Uninstalled and re-installed the Android app and there was no changes -- still don't have the popup nor can make international phone calls. All numbers called were 800 numbers to avoid Skype charge. If anyone has a thought, please let me know.
B) On the mobile experienced the same as the computer -- can't make a call. Did as it suggested and switched off wifi so as not to be charged by the local carrier. Also tried two mobile phone numbers -- in Thailand the number starts with a "0" if calling from within Thailand, and that "0" is not included if calling to Thailand from outside. This had no effect.
Any quick or thought thorough ideas would be appreciated.
