Re: Android video only in landscape?

Should now be resolved so you can video call in portrait on the Galaxy Nexus running ICS.  Make sure you are on Skype v2.6.0.95 (just released).

Let us know how you get on,

Dan

Re: Android video only in landscape?

Hi nehebear

Seems your device is not picking up the video config updates we made.  Could you try clearing the app data and restarting our app?  Go to 'manage apps' and then find Skype, and select 'Clear data'.

Let us know if this fixes it?

Dan

Re: Android video only in landscape?

Hi Dan

I'm also on ICS 4.02 on a Galaxy Nexus, with skype version 2.6.0.95 (I just downloaded it today, for the first time). I tried the "Clear Data" from the Apps settings menu, but I still can't get it to go into portrait mode. When I hold the phone upright it stays in landscape, and I can't find a setting anywhere to change this. Anything else we can try?

Thanks,

Brian

Re: Android video only in landscape?

This behaviour is expected on SGS II LTE because of the way we have had to enable video on this device. We are investigating some potential improvements in this area though, so watch this space.

For the other variants of Galaxy Nexus, we are also working to track down and test as many as we can, and will add portrait calling as quickly as we can. Please bear with us.

Dan

Re: Android video only in landscape?

This fixed my landscape issue!

I'm using the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy SII Skype version 2.6.0.95.

Initially when you install the app it asks to enable video calling.  Hit cancel when it asks this. Then in the settings menu check the ENABLE VIDEO CALLING option. That will also have under it ENABLE ROTATION AND ZOOM. Make sure that is also checked.

That should do it.

Re: Android video only in landscape?

Huh??

I have the exact same version of Skype (on my Verizon - HTC Rezound).  There is no such option for "enable rotation and zoom".  And, when installing Skype, "enable video calling" is already checked by default.  I've tried clearing data, uninstalling, reinstalling, etc. There is no option for "enable rotation and zoom".

Not only is it inconvenient to view calls in Landscape only, but it also limits you to using only one hand (not being able to switch back and forth between left and right hands when you get tired), because on my phone, using my left hand in Landscape mode, partially blocks my front-facing camera!  Whereas, if you could hold the phone in Portrait mode, you could use either hand (by holding at the bottom of the phone).
